MAKING CASH IN UNEXPECTED PLACES

Money

Let’s face it, the term “starving college student” was invented for a reason.

The question is, how can you make a little extra cash quickly with no long term obligation?

The Answer: Make yourself available to the “bosses” around you.

I’m not talking about your boss at your part time job, but the people in your life that you answer to: Your Professor, Your Pastor, and Your Landlord.

These people are often serving multiple people on any given day and can generally use a few extra helping hands.

Hands

So what are the keys?

  1. Be INTENTIONAL

Approach your Leader Figure in a moment where they are not assisting others and explain to them that you are looking for a little extra cash flow. Tell them that you are available if they ever need help with odd jobs like passing out flyers, making multiple calls, or organizing or cleaning. Make this information short and sweet so that you’re planting a seed in the back of their mind; do not make them feel pressured to give you an answer then. Finish by saying something like “if you need help, just think of me.”

  1. Be PROFESSIONAL

When they do finally call on you for a little extra assistance, make sure you present yourself in a way that makes them look good. You are now an extension of them. If you fail to do this, they will not ask for your help again. Make sure your voicemail is professional, dress appropriately (no ripped jeans, spaghetti straps, or flip flops), and most of all, SHOW UP. If they ask you for help and you tell them you’re busy, you might as well assume they won’t ask for help again.

  1. PUT ALL THE CARDS ON THE TABLE

In most work environments you get paid by the hour. Try to set up a system where you get paid by the task. Negotiate this amount before accepting the job. If they want you to put out flyers, negotiate a price for the whole task, instead of how long it will take you to complete the project.

What types of jobs should you expect?

Pastor:

One Last Thing:

Keep in mind that every time you refer a friend to Live Californian and they sign a lease,  you receive $100 Cash (just make sure they put your name in the referral section on their application)

We also do a drawing every month for the “Early Birds” who paid rent before the 1st of the month.

The Last way you can make a little extra cash with us is if you let us use your apartment as a show unit.
